One-Time Volunteer Opportunities


Xavier Winter Inn - College Church

What: Each winter, the St. Francis Xavier College Church transforms into a hospitality inn for those living on the streets of St. Louis when it drops below 20 degrees at night.  Volunteers are needed to assist full-time staff to help serve food, prepare beds, clean, etc.
When: Training is on Saturday, December 1.

OWL Seniors

Community organization that provides an array of social services to low-income older adults in South City.
What: Volunteers are needed for our Thanksgiving Celebration, serving our residents a meal, engaging with them in conversation, etc.
When: Tuesday, November 20 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Where: 5800 Arsenal St. (directions via Google Maps).

Saint Louis Zoo

What: Volunteers are needed for Wild Lights, an animal-themed holiday lights experience for children and adults.  Assist the  Zoo with children's activities, monitoring fire pits, helping direct guests, and more. 
When: Any day November 23 - December 30, volunteer shift of 4:45 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Family Hospice

What: Volunteers are needed for our annual Tree of Memories fundraiser.  Members of surrounding communities purchase handmade angel ornaments in memory of loved ones.  Assist with the sale of ornaments, as well as in listening to customers share stories of their loved ones.
When: Any day November 26 - December 20, 2-hour shifts anytime 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Ride On St. Louis

Non-profit organization that provides equine-assisted therapies and activities to people with developmental disabilities.
What: Volunteers are needed for our farm workday, helping out with various maintenance work to improve the grounds.
When: Saturday, December 1 from 8:00 a.m. - Noon

Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis

What: Volunteers are needed for our annual Holiday Party, helping engage children (both those with Down syndrome and their siblings) in games and activities.
When: Sunday, December 2 from Noon - 4:00 p.m.

Mission St. Louis

Non-profit organization that provides social and educational services to those in need throughout St. Louis.
What: Volunteers are needed to help sort toys for our Affordable Christmas event.
When: Tuesday, December 2 through Thursday, December 4 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The Open Space Council

Non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and sustainability of our natural resources.
What: Volunteers are needed for Operation Clean Stream Winter Cleanup along the Meramec Greenway, assisting with trash pickup and removing debris from entering our streams and waterways.  Tools provided - wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.
When: Saturday, December 8 from 9:00 a.m. - Noon.
Where: Lower Meramec Park, 4800 Meramec Bottom Rd. (directions via Google Maps).

Salvation Army Midland Division

What: Volunteers are needed for our annual Toy Town, where we give the parents and guardians an opportunity to shop for their youth.  Assist with greeting, stocking the shelves, handing out food and drinks to shoppers, etc.
When: Any day Monday, December 17 - Friday, December 21, anytime 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
